I want to use the 4 channel relay board from seeedstudio. I want to use a switch item to control the relays. Happy for all help. There is an issue for someone to implement an I2C binding but at this time there is no way for OH to interact with I2C directly.
So you would have to implement the communication with the I2C using some external code Python scripts are nice and set up some sort of communication between that and OH.
Although it sounds complicated, the moment you get on track with MQTT will be more than satisfying! You sound geekier than myself! No pun intended! Plus I can do it on my phone for the must part. And I love making things. Thank you mate! I have read your readme, and gone through the install script and ini file, but honestly i have very little idea of what to put in them.
Do you have examples of these files configured to communicate with I2C sensor? What else needs to by done? An example of the OH2 side of the configuration would also be greatly appriciated.
You will need to research how to interact with IC2 through Python and write a new class to support that to use sensorReporter. Hi Stromo! May I ask you which solution did work for you? Hi, Although it sounds complicated, the moment you get on track with MQTT will be more than satisfying! BR, George. Yours truly, George. Thank you for the good work, Cheers Kasper. When home automation just seems to work, it is always the result of hard work.
Home automation is fascinating and requires a considerable investment of your time. Here are some key considerations especially for new users. To be successful, you will need to:. Remember, openHAB is just a computer program. The computer will only do what you tell it to do. On the flip side, the more you insist that everything should look and work exactly the way you want it, the more work you will have to invest. Keep your focus.
For almost everything, there is more than one way in openHAB to achieve a goal or perform a task.
Initially, this can be frustrating and confusing, but it also gives great flexibility and does not mandate the use of certain devices or tools. You may need to learn more about computers than you currently do.
Esp8266 Mqtt Psk
But this may not be a problem as you are reading the documentation of software that will enable you to do home automation yourself. Basic functions can be achieved in openHAB rather quickly, e.
Others will require much more effort and thought, e. The openHAB forum is a great place to learn and discuss. To achieve this, openHAB segments and compartmentalizes certain functions and operations. The following table gives a top-level description of the most important concepts as well as a link to more information:. While the table above gives an overview, please remember that it is incomplete and a simplification of openHAB for the sake of this overview.
More elements will be introduced in later chapters of the documentation. All the above Concepts are explained in more depth on other pages that can be accessed either through the sidebar or the links in the table above. Channels are the logical link between a Thing and an Item. Channels originate from Things definition and define how your Thing can communicate with Item and vice versa.
You will create channels when defining your Thing. During the definition of your Thing you will identify the channel to which your Item will be linked. These two steps ensure that openHAB can transmit the information from the Thing to the Item and vice versa.
Bindings are software packages that are installed by the user in openHAB. The main purpose of Bindings is to establish the connection between your device and your Thing. Bindings communicate with your device and translate all commands to and from openHAB between your device and your Thing.
I'm still not sure if the second and third line in the mqtt-eventbus. MyMQTT should be replaced with brokername mysensors in this example. Register Login. Only users with topic management privileges can see it.
Overview MySensors. So here goes. Reply Quote 0 1 Reply Last reply. So to hopefully help other people I'll post how I got it to work. Can you post your arduino sketches as well??Первая автоматизация на OpenHAB
This helped me out a lot, thanks! Reply Quote 1 1 Reply Last reply. Loading More Posts 5 Posts. Reply Reply as topic. Suggested Topics. I have a project going with openhab and thethingbox. I only use Mqtt with a combination of nrf24l01 and esp modules. If my door or window sensor is tripped a message is sent to Twitter.
I also send temp and humidity readings to thingspeak and my cell phone reports long and lat coordinates to thingspeak so that my lights can come on as I approach the house. My next project is to setup ip cameras and motion sensors and sent pics to drop box.
Openhab is really not hard, you just have to keep at it, once you get it you will kick yourself for over complicating it Mike. Just one final question I was planning on using OpenHab or Home Assistant. Thank You all. And be aware of this thread where the ENC module is hanging after a while. I am not able to install the Library. Still it is saying Invalid Library found in What could be the problem. So at this point you should have the Arduino IDE up and running with the ability to compile applications for your engimusing boards.
Now we need to be able to connect up the engimusing board up to the openHAB server so it can be controlled remotely. This will open up a blank console window with mosquitto running using the default port of and accepting connections from any network interface. Notice how the previous screenshot just shows a blank console.
This section will describe how to turn on console messages for Mosquitto so we can tell what the MQTT server is doing. Open the mosquitto. Then to run using this configuration run mosquitto. You should now see messages on the console about what is happening on the MQTT server.
Like this:. Next we need to add the mqtt configuration options to the openhab. Client id max 23 chars to use when connecting to the broker. If not provided a default one is generated. User id to authenticate with the broker.
Password to authenticate with the broker. Set the quality of service level for sending messages to this broker. Possible values are 0 Deliver at most once ,1 Deliver at least once or 2 Deliver exactly once. Defaults to 0. True or false.
Defines if the broker should retain the messages sent to it. Defaults to false. Defines if messages are published asynchronously or synchronously. Defaults to true. If OpenHAB is not already running that start it up by running start. Run the installer. Optional Turning on mosquitto log messages in the console: Notice how the previous screenshot just shows a blank console.
Open the addons zip file we copied there in the OpenHAB configuration tutorial. This information was rather difficult for me to locate so I thought I would do a favor for the next newbie. There are no step by step tutorials on this subject so I will be setting one up on this post below.
I will be working though the setup this week. If anyone else would like follow along please let me know. I would like to make a shell script which get all the packages needed and so on. In OH2 is the user still OpenHab? This is important to know for GPIO and usb dongles as the user need the right to access them. Just got a new SD card for my demoPi, so now I finally can start doing some work again. See here to track progress. I started with 1.
Some of what I learned was educated guesses so I invite the senior members for feedback on my post. Below is a high level list of what I will be posting. My strategy here is to take baby steps and get pieces of the architecture working before trying to integrate the next layer. I hope this helps someone who enjoys learning as much as I do!
Impressing your peers! Follow along at each link on the bottom of the page to configure the ESP for your wireless network. It has onboard usb to serial and can be programmed and powered via the usb connection. A great manual for the ESP can be found here:. The ESPEasy devs have created a flash tool and a stable image that works very well. The download of the image includes the flash tool and several bin images files for the different ESP hardware models.
Klippel ck atelier-klippel. There is also an option to compile the arduino code and load the code from an Arduino Uno. See the ESPEasy website for instructions on how to do this. Once you have the image flashed and configured. Dont worry about the errors on failing to find a mqtt broker. This is an important read this since things have changed significantly from 1. Things have been broken up from the single openhab. Here are the steps to install the software. Choose the standard package to be installed once openhab is started.
Run start. The technology enables smartphonestablets and other devices to perform actions when in proximity to an iBeacon. The identifier and several bytes sent with it can be used to determine the device's physical location, track customers, or trigger a location-based action on the device such as a check-in on social media or a push notification.
With the help of an iBeacon, a smartphone's software can approximately find its relative location to an iBeacon in a store. Brick and mortar retail stores use the beacons for mobile commerceoffering customers special deals through mobile marketing and can enable mobile payments through point of sale systems.
Another application is distributing messages at a specific Point of Interestfor example a store, a bus stop, a room or a more specific location like a piece of furniture or a vending machine. This is similar to previously used geopush technology based on GPSbut with a much reduced impact on battery life and better precision. This ensures that only the installed app not the iBeacon transmitter can track users as they walk around the transmitters.
An iBeacon deployment consists of one or more iBeacon devices that transmit their own unique identification number to the local area. Software on a receiving device may then look up the iBeacon and perform various functions, such as notifying the user.
Receiving devices can also connect to the iBeacons to retrieve values from iBeacon's GATT generic attribute profile service. However, mobile software can use signals received from iBeacons to trigger their own push notifications. Region monitoring also allows for a small window in which iOS gives a closed app an opportunity to react to the entry of a region. As opposed to monitoring, which enables users to detect movement in-and-out of range of the beacons, ranging provides a list of beacons detected in a given region, along with the estimated distance from the user's device to each beacon.
An iOS device receiving an iBeacon transmission can approximate the distance from the iBeacon. The distance between transmitting iBeacon and receiving device is categorized into 3 distinct ranges: .
An iBeacon broadcast has the ability to approximate when a user has entered, exited, or lingered in region. Depending on a customer's proximity to a beacon, they are able to receive different levels of interaction at each of these three ranges. The maximum range of an iBeacon transmission will depend on the location and placement, obstructions in the environment and where the device is being stored e.
Standard beacons have an approximate range of 70 meters. Long range beacons can reach up to meters. The frequency of the iBeacon transmission depends on the configuration of the iBeacon and can be altered using device specific methods. Both the rate and the transmit power have an effect on the iBeacon battery life. The Major and Minor values are settings which can be used to connect to specific iBeacons or to work with more than one iBeacon at the same time.
Typically, multiple iBeacon deployment at a venue will have the same UUID, and use the major and minor pairs to segment and distinguish subspaces within the venue. For example, the Major values of all the iBeacons in a specific store can be set to the same value and the Minor value can be used to identify a specific iBeacon within the store.
Several chipsets makers, including Texas Instruments and Nordic Semiconductor now supply chipsets optimized for iBeacon use.
Power consumption depends on iBeacon configuration parameters of advertising interval and transmit power. A study on 16 different iBeacon vendors reports that battery life can range between 1—24 months. Apple's recommended setting of ms advertising interval with a coin cell battery provides for 1—3 months of life, which increases to 2—3 years as advertising interval is increased to ms. Battery consumption of the phones is a factor that must be taken into account when deploying beacon-enabled apps.
A recent report has shown that older phones tend to draw more battery in the vicinity of iBeacons, while the newer phones can be more efficient in the same environment. In mid Apple introduced iBeacons and experts wrote about how it is designed to help the retail industry by simplifying payments and enabling on-site offers.
In the below log entries you see that the Thing keeps retrying and throws an error while rebooting the system. This is proof that the port really shows although in another colour but I assume that this has to do with the fact that it is a symbolic link. Alternatively I could use another Raspberry to serve as an ethernet gateway next to serving as a backup server but the current setup is more appealing to me As posted hereit works with an mygw as ethernet gateway on the same RPi, but serial should be doable too.
The serial library in OH2 that is used by the binding was a little picky with serial ports but was changed recently.
Arduino, ESP8266 Lua, Raspberry Pi 2 && OpenHab. Умный дом: азы управления.
I had connection errors with the ethernet gateway as well but that was before I changed the user rights so that could have caused that. The binding caused a couple of crashes so I need to fix that first but I will let you know how things go. TimO I moved the gateway to another Raspberry Pi just for fun. It works now. Adding and removing the gateway does not show with the correct status until resetting OpenHAB.
TimO Issue solved with latest release. TimO Maybe not completely. I am using a Raspberry Pi Ethernet Gateway. At first connected on the controller Raspberry but that seems to be unreliable. Will debug that later.
Control4 zigbee io
I am now using a Pi B and that works. While moving to MySensors 2. That is not really nice because I need to know that, if one or more components go down and up again, everything will be working again. TimO OK, Thank you! Register Login. Only users with topic management privileges can see it. Platform for now is the Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian. I am pretty happy with how things proceed one step at a time. I started with my z-wave sensors and I now want to restart my MySensors project.
The application is running without errors see below for the config file I used.
